June
HUGELY TALENTED EMERGING SINGER-SONGWRITER JUNE RELEASED STUNNING INFECTIOUS DEBUT SINGLE 'UP' ON JUNE 27TH.
June is an upcoming Irish singer/songwriter from Laois. Her songs span between alternative folk, pop and dance music with Irish traditional singing influences.
She is inspired by an eclectic range of artists including Clannad, Sia and David Guetta.
June is currently set on planning her debut album release at a later stage but is now focused on releasing some singles into the Irish music scene first to help build up her momentum.
Saltwater - Chicane featuring Moya Brennan
The emotive vocals sung in the Irish language are ethereal. The contrasting electronic instrumental is beautiful in its own right, incorporating synths and piano.
Alex Warren - Ordinary
There is definitely nothing ordinary about this! It captures perfectly the magic and beauty of love in an otherwise mundane everyday life. It is like a gospel song, filled with awe and love.
The Sound of Silence - Simon & Garfunkel
There is a beautiful simplicity yet profoundness to the lyrics and melody of this song. There is something prophetic about the song’s message, as though we are all missing or ignoring something important as we go through life.
Finbar Furey - Sweet Sixteen
The Fureys Finest was one of the CDs played in the car on summer road trips as a child. Sweet sixteen is such a pure, honest love song. I love the way Finbar plays the Uilleann pipes. The beautiful music makes the song. My other favourites of the Furey’s were I Will Love You, From Clare to Here and Red Rose Café which conjured up images of honest working lives, love and camraderie.
Sia - Chandelier
The vocal melody of the song soars to reflect the heartbreaking lyrics in this song. Sia’s amazing vocals sound effortless. I’ve seen videos of her performing this live and her vocals sound so heartfelt and natural.
Kodaline - High Hopes
This song is about taking a chance again despite past heartbreaks. The overall tone of the song is hopeful and optimistic. If spring could be a song, this would be it!
Cian Ducrot - I’ll Be Waiting
I love Cian’s emotive tone of voice and his beautiful melodies.
Tate McRae - Greedy
I found it so hard to narrow it down to just of Tate’s songs. One of her earliest songs “You Broke me First” demonstrates her tone of voice and clever songwriting. Her vocals and use of vibrato are beautiful. Her style developed to more uptempo songs which are just as melodic and catchy. Ryan Tedder is incredible as a producer for her. I also love the acoustic version of the song “Greedy” because it shows her talent as a singer.
Jimmy MacCarthy - Bright Blue Rose
It is a deep song which has an unusual but gorgeous melody. There is a mystique-like quality to this song.
Red Wine Supernova - Chappell Roan
Just like the title, the vocals are so rich, full-bodied and evocative. The chorus is my favourite part, it is so anthemic.
